Chad Murray is currently in his third year at Fossil Ridge High School, where he oversees all percussion studies across Fossil Ridge High School, Fossil Hill Middle School, and Vista Ridge Middle School. With a deep passion for music and education, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role.

​

Mr. Murray earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Old Dominion University, located in Norfolk, Virginia.  During his time at ODU, he honed his musical talents and had the privilege of performing with various esteemed ensembles, including the ODU Wind Ensemble, ODU Symphony Orchestra, ODU Percussion Ensemble, ODU Monarch Marching Band, and the ODU Basketball Pep Band. He is also an alumnus of the Iota Tau Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a reflection of his dedication to musical excellence.

Before joining the staff at Fossil Ridge, Mr. Murray served as the Assistant Director of Percussion and Private Lessons Instructor at Saginaw High School in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District. In this role, he played a crucial part in all high school performing ensembles, while also serving as the front ensemble director for the Saginaw Drumline and Saginaw Indoor Drumline. Under his guidance, the percussion program at Saginaw High School soared to new heights, achieving success in esteemed organizations such as WGI, NTCA, UIL, and USBands.

Mr. Murray's involvement in the Drum and Bugle Corps and Indoor Percussion activities has been a remarkable journey that began in 2010. He is an alumnus of The Jersey Surf Drum and Bugles Corps and has contributed his expertise as a percussion staff member for Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, and Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps. Furthermore, he continues his teaching journey as a valued member of the education team for Vigilantes Indoor Percussion, a respected ensemble based in Fort Worth, Texas.

Beyond his educational roles, Mr. Murray has earned the honor of being endorsed as an Artist with Innovative Percussion, Dynasty Drums, Titan Field Frames, and Sabian Cymbals. His affiliation with these renowned percussion brands underlines his excellence and dedication in the field. Additionally, he is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Percussive Arts Society, demonstrating his commitment to professional growth and collaboration within the music education community.

When he's not teaching, Mr. Murray finds joy in a variety of pursuits. He enjoys playing golf, channeling his creativity into composing and arranging music, and cherishing quality family time with his wife Kylie, their three-year-old golden lab Poe, and their son Cooper. His passion for music and his commitment to nurturing the talents of young percussionists make Chad Murray an invaluable asset to the world of music education.
